At  2010's event, we felt impelled to send out a "gentle reminder"  halfway through the event about littering.  We were so impressed by how well the kids and coaches responded that we decided to take things a step further!

Here is what we are doing to go GREEN:
  • APPROVED as a VA GREEN Event
  • CARPOOL! Save some gas, save some money, spare the air, and avoid the headache of trying to find a spot!
  • Reduce! Encouraging vendors to reduce solid waste by:
    • providing condiments in BULK rather than individual packets
    • encouraging use of recycled paper products
    • having a food-waste bin that will be taken for compost (...in the works)
  • Recycle! Bins will be available throughout the event
  • Education! - Informational booth on the environmental consequences of littering and promoting better stewardship of our parks and play areas
